I suppose I'll start. :) My first week was okay, not stellar, but okay. It's been hard to drag myself out of bed to get my cardio and resistance training in, but the days that I have forced myself out of bed I've felt so much better. The thing about eating healthy is food prep takes a little bit longer than driving through Wendy's.. it's always an adjustment to make the time to conciously make that choice each meal. I've been trying to compile a list of recipes and menu ideas that will satisfy everyone in my family. I have found some good ones, but does anyone else have any suggestions? Usually I struggle with getting enough fruits and veggies but that is the best part of the season, fresh produce!! I've even gotten my daughter convinced that her 'treats' are grapes, apples and string cheese... not too shabby I say (and the whole sugar-rush is not missed...).

What was your week like? What did you find was easier than you thought? Harder than you thought? Questions?? Share....

Hey my first week was great, I got 1095 points this week! Ha Ha just kidding I wanted to see who has been paying attention! I have been suffering from bronchitis (SP? sorry I am not a nurse) all week so my score will be less than perfect. I did do the cardio on Friday tho-very bad idea for someone with Bronchitis(SP?)but I am too competitive to just let that slide. I also have a pumpkin pie recipe with low fat and low sugar plus pumpkin raisin cookies with cut fat and sugar are not too hard either. I use applesauce(no sugar kind) to sweeten it and whole grain flour-throw in some oatmeal for more fiber. I experiment. Banana or zuchinni bread is another one to try, I just use a regular recipe and cut out or replace all the sugar, fat, and salt. My girls like to complain but they still always eat it and I like a no guilt treat. There are tons more good ideas in diabetic cookbooks. Anne
JADEN SAYS I like the program, but i've done really bad. next week i will do good. bye

Hey! My first week went pretty good. I struggle with eating healthy on the weekends. We like to go out to eat and hang out with friends and it seems like there's always a treat around and late at night too. I've done good though. I'm learning more self control and trying to fill myself up on good things so I'm not hungry after 8. I've got full points on cardio everyday so that's going great. I feel so much happier and energized when I am eating right and exercising.

Hey, this is Amy and I have to say my first week certainly did not go as well as I had hoped, but no one else is to blame but myself. I have had a harder time finding the motivation to ignore those tasty treats, as well as my number one weakness is my activity levels. I have done great with my addiction, my fiber and my water so I have already increased my health that way from my normal habits off the program. I did lose 2 lbs, also so yea for me!! I spent all of Sunday with a stomach virus, needless to say I got hardly any points cuz I just didn't eat much of anything. That is also why I am late writing my blog. But I look to Week 2 as a fresh beginning and will certainly try harder. Good luck to you all!!

Sorry you've been sick Anne! (Amy stay away from your Mom.. :) I hope this week ya'll are feeling better at the Stevens' house. Jenny, I have the same problem on weekends! Friends=Treats. My addiction this time around is gummy candies and licorice (my two favvvvorite treats) and I had a hard time this week with them. Day by day, week by week, right ladies??
